Jonatan Martinez is an artist from Mexico, currently based in Chicago/NY. He creates new media environments, including virtual/augmented reality, video, photography, and sound. Jonatan holds an MFA degree in Film, Video, New Media, Animation from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA degree in Photography and Digital Media from the University of Houston. He has exhibited at Ars Electronica, EXPO Chicago, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago / Sullivan Galleries, EVL CAVE2 at University of Illinois, BLUEorange Contemporary in Houston, Blaffer Gallery, and has screened at Gene Siskel Film Center, Latitude, Elastic Arts in Chicago, Menil Collection Lawn, and Houston International Film Festival, among others. Jonatan is the recipient of several awards, including the Ellen Sander Merit Scholarship and Shapiro Research Fellowship. He also works as the duo GREYMAR.
